Parent Note: Do Not Let the Bill Outrun the Schools

The short versionAlberta Parents for Stronger Vaping Restrictions says parents should support youth protection but ask whether schools and enforcement are ready first.

What parents can use today

Primary Care Alberta lists TalkTips for parents and caregivers, teacher prevention resources, Behind the Haze for youth aged 13 to 17, and AlbertaQuits for adults. Healthier Together Schools also lists CANVAS and a school-property vaping toolkit.

Three questions for MLAs

  • Will schools get practical support before a new ban changes the market?
  • Will illegal sellers be tracked and penalized if youth demand moves outside stores?
  • Will the province publish where youth actually get products?

The parent position

Parents can want fewer youth vaping products and still reject a weak implementation plan. A bill that creates more room for unregulated sellers is not a youth-protection win.
